I grew up in South Africa and started my business journey at the age of nine. At 21, I moved to London, and for almost thirty years, I led what became a global business in time, with teams on the ground in 10 countries. When our youngest son was still just a baby, whilst holidaying in Cape Town, we spotted Buitenzorg in the distance during a long, lazy lunch in the sun at Jonkershuis. My husband and I thought, "Wouldn't it be incredible to live in such a beautiful part of the world?" After 10 years of patiently waiting for Buitenzorg to come to the market, we grabbed it with both hands and have now spent the past few years lovingly restoring the homestead. Today, our family loves sharing this wonderful slice of heaven with charming guests from all four corners of the world.

My husband's career was predominantly in client-side marketing, as a Marketing Director for several blue-chip UK organisations. During Covid, together with a close friend, they founded a tech company. Building runs in the family for my husband. And his passion and vision for Buitenzorg's gardens and outdoor spaces have transformed the estate over the years. Very much a visionary and always on the go, Joss relishes starting his mornings on the front 'stoep' and then ending the day with a chilled glass of wine overlooking the spectacular vineyards of Groot Constantia and beyond.

John's deep knowledge of the property and commitment to excellence ensures every stay is memorable. As Estate Manager, he heads up both the domestic and gardening teams with professionalism and dedication. His genuine care for Buitenzorg shines through in every detail, ensuring your stay is everything you desire and deserve.

Buitenzorg is a very secure estate. The property is surrounded by a steel electric fence. The estate is also monitored by cameras that are linked directly to Pro-sec, surveillance that provides 24/7 immediate response. Additionally, there is a complex system of exterior & interior beams that can be set at night.
